Lots of Books

(originally launched into cyberspace on 06/28/2008)

Several people who ordered "Kicking the Dragon" have been asking
where their books are. Keep in mind, though I started taking pre-
orders on June 2nd, I didn't even have the book myself until June
12th. At this point, a couple weeks later, ALL books ordered
(individuals and cases) have been mailed out, except for a couple
orders from outside of the country.

The books are sent "media mail" to reduce postage costs (which is
why shipping and handling is only $4 for this hefty book). In most
cases, the books are getting delivered two or three days after they
are sent. But of the hundreds of books sent out, a few taking
longer doesn't surprise me at all. If you've already ordered, and
don't get your book by Tuesday, July 1st, then let me know.
Otherwise, please be patient.

Incidentally, of the whole dozen cases I sent out a couple weeks
ago, just under half have actually been paid for. And since my
costs for a case of 12 are over $100, I'm running at a loss here.
So I hope when people get their cases, they can send payment to the
address below as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Larken Rose

Anarchist Sighting in Wolfeboro, NH

(originally launched into cyberspace on 06/26/2008)

Dear Subscriber,

Just to let you know (or to warn you, as the case may be), I'm
expecting to be in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire in a few weeks to put
on a little talk/discussion thing. It will probably be on the 17th
(Thursday) or 18th (Friday) of July, though I don't know exactly
where yet. I'll give more details when I have them. There might be
a whopping $2 or $3 suggested admission, to cover the cost of
renting the room and maybe some of my dang gas bill to get up
there, but it won't be more than that.

I figure I'll rant about politics, my prison stay, my books, etc.,
for maybe an hour, and then you can heckle me, call me names, ask
questions--whatever--and then we can just hang around chatting
until everybody voluntary leaves, or until the owners of the place
kick us out (all in proper anarchist tradition). I'll also be
signing and/or selling my books there.

Again, when I have more details, I'll let you know.

Sincerely,

Larken Rose

A Word from Tessa

(originally launched into cyberspace on 06/25/2008)

Dear Subscriber

Aside from the fact that the following is a shameless promotion of
my book by my wife, it's also an accurate description of what has
already happened in a few cases, according to reports I've been
receiving. Does it still count as bragging if it's true? Probably,
but I don't care. - Larken

- -------------< beginning of shameless promotion >-------------

Kicking the Dragon (Confessions of a Tax Heretic):

You’ve just ripped the wrapper off Larken’s new book. It’s a
pretty hefty book. A little intimidating, actually. You’re afraid
it will have lots of legal stuff in it that you won’t understand.
You turn it over and read the back. You leaf through and notice
that a big chunk of it is Appendices. OK, so it’s not so huge.
It’s easy on the eyes; it’s not an Atlas Shrugged. So you turn to
the first page, and Larken starts talking. It just sounds like
good old Larken Rose telling you a story. And before you know it,
the story grabs you and carries you away. You thought you knew
this story already, but each page brings something you hadn’t
heard. You want to get to the trial. You want to get to the
closing arguments.

Now it’s 2:00 in the morning, and you still haven’t put the book
down. You decide you’ll take it to bed and just glance at the next
chapter before you go to sleep. Four hours later, you think:
Damn. That was awesome. And then you think: Damn. I got no
sleep. I have to get ready for work. And then you think, Before I
get in the shower, I’ll just go and order a case so I can give this
book to all my friends.

Happy Reading from Tessa Rose

Some Random Things

(originally launched into cyberspace on 06/22/2008)

Dear Subscriber,

A few random things:

1) A few people, upon receiving their copy of "Kicking the Dragon"
(my new book), commented on how dang big it is. Yes, it's around
480 pages in all, but don't be scared. About 100 of that is the
appendixes: my entire updated "Taxable Income" report, and the
complete Motion to Suppress I filed shortly before my trial
(included for reasons the book explains). While I initially
imagined and intended something shorter than the end result, a 380-
page story, there was just too much absurd and infuriating stuff
that happened to make the story short. (And I wasn't about to make
it shorter by using microscopic text.) But I've been pleased with
the stories of people zooming through the thing in a couple days,
and agreeing that there wasn't really anything that should, or
could, have been left out. You'll definitely get your money's worth
with all the "meat" in this thing. And an added bonus is that, if
you want to persuade an IRS agent with the book, but the flood of
facts, quotes, and citations don't seem to do the trick, the book
doubles as an effective bludgeon. (Just kidding.)

2) Anyone who ordered an entire case of books should already have
it, or be getting it in the next day or two. If you could then send
payment to the address shown below (so I can pay my dang bills),
that would be great. A few of you already have, and I thank you.

3) Some time in July I'll be up in New Hampshire, and someone
suggested I do a little talk or something. If anyone would be
there, I'd be happy to. So if anyone has suggestions/requests about
WHERE in New Hampshire I should do it--i.e., where a few people
might show up--let me know.

4) As I said before, if you think you already know the whole story
of my adventures with the IRS and DOJ, you don't. Heck, even close
friends and family members, after reading "Kicking the Dragon," are
now telling me, "I didn't know that!" So if you think you know the
whole story, you might know half of it. Going to
http://www.kickingthedragon.com or sending $22 to the address below
will get you the other half.

Sincerely,

Larken Rose

(P.S. A couple weeks ago someone special ordered a dozen copies of
my new book (http://www.kickingthedragon.com) and a copy of my
"Tyrant" book (http://www.tyrantbook.com), and then I managed to
lose all my contact info for him! I thought his name was "Cliff."
If you're him, please e-mail me! Everyone else, don't panic. All
other orders were received and filled without problem.)

KTD via PayPal ( Hey, Cliff )

(originally launched into cyberspace on 06/18/2008)

Dear Subscriber,

First, let me demonstrate my complete lack of organization by
saying: "Hey, Cliff. I lost your e-mail AND your mailing address;
can you e-mail me?" (If your name is "Cliff" and you have no idea
what I'm talking about, never mind.) Sorry about that.

Well, I'm back from my big, tiring adventure, which included
picking up (and shipping out) lots of copies of my new book,
"Kicking the Dragon." A bunch of people have asked me if it's
possible to order it via PayPal. Eventually I want the web site to
be able to do that, but it doesn't at the moment. However, if you
want to send $22 to "This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." I'll ship you out a
copy of the book. (And, of course, people can still order from
http://www.kickingthedragon.com or via "snail mail" at the address
below.)

So far I've really liked the reviews of the book. Having read the
thing a million times myself, it's hard for me to know what it
would be like to read it for the first time. Apparently it's pretty
darn good. (Who'd have thought?) But I'll just shut up for now and
let some other people brag about it later.

Sincerely,

Larken Rose

"Kicking the Dragon" in Bulk

(originally launched into cyberspace on 06/12/2008)

Dear Subscriber,

As I said in my last message, I'm away from home, picking up a
bunch of cases of my new book, "Kicking the Dragon (Confessions of
a Tax Heretic)," and an idea just occurred to me. Every case I send
out from HERE, I don't have to ship home. Therefore, I thought I'd
give a one-time offer for anyone who wants to buy a whole case.
There are 12 books in a case, which purchased individually would
cost $264 (at $22 each). But if you want to order a case BEFORE I
go home from here--in other words, if you order TODAY--I'll send
you a case of 12 books for $180, including shipping (which comes to
$15 a book). If you're interested:

1) You have to let me know TODAY (before midnight), Thursday, June
12th.
2) Don't try to get this deal on the web site. It won't work.
3) Send me an e-mail, TODAY, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., giving me
an address to ship a case of books to.
4) I will then ship you your case immediately, without first
waiting for your payment to arrive (for obvious reasons), hoping
that eventually you'll send payment to the address below:

Larken Rose
P.O. Box 653
Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006

(P.S. Incidentally, I'm perfectly happy to have people giving
copies of the book away, selling them at cost, or selling them for
a profit.)

(P.P.S. I'll be announcing "normal" bulk rates for the book soon.)
